Privacy Policy

CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Gallery Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Our Core Principle

Gallery Pro is a photo gallery and a video player in one app. It shows the photos and videos stored on your Android device, plays your videos with speed control, A-B repeat, and subtitles, and helps you organize them. Viewing, playing, organizing, editing, and finding similar photos all run entirely on your device. Your photos and videos are yours: they stay on your device, and we never view, collect, upload, or transmit them to our servers. We do not operate any server that receives your photos, your videos, or information about them. There is no account and no sign-up. Specifically, we do not have access to any of the following:

  • Your photos and videos, or what they show
  • The places where your photos were taken (location data stored in the photos)
  • The names of your files and albums, your favorites, the albums you hide, or the videos you watch
  • The subtitle files and music you choose in the app
  • Your fingerprint, face, or screen lock used for the app lock

Your photos and videos leave your device only through actions you take yourself: sharing them, opening them with another app, setting a photo as wallpaper or similar, or opening the place where a photo was taken in a map app (Section 2).

2. Photos, Videos, Location in Photos, and Subtitles

  • Reading your photos and videos: With your permission, the app reads the photos and videos on your device through Android's media library in order to list, show, and play them. On Android 14 and later, you can also allow access to selected photos and videos only. Photos and videos that you open in Gallery Pro from another app are handled in the same way.
  • Changes you make: Deleting, moving, copying, renaming, rotating, and editing change only the files you choose. On Android 11 and later, Android asks for your confirmation when it is required, unless you allow "Media management" (Section 3.4). Hiding an album does not move or delete anything; it only stops the album from appearing in the app's lists.
  • Trash: By default, items you delete go to the trash, where you can restore them for 30 days. After that, they are deleted permanently. If you turn off "Use the trash", items are deleted permanently right away. On Android 11 and later, the app uses Android's own trash, which Android empties after 30 days. On Android 10 and earlier, the trash is kept in the app's own storage on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes the items in this trash, so please restore anything you want to keep first.
  • Edited photos and saved frames: Edited photos and video frames that you save as photos are saved as new files on your device, in the same album as the original. Editing never overwrites the original file. Rotating a JPEG, PNG, or WebP photo changes only the orientation information stored in the file, so the image quality does not change.
  • Location in photos: If a photo contains the place where it was taken, the app can show it in the photo's "Details". On Android 10 and later, the app asks for access to location in photos only when you open the details. The location is read on your device and is never sent to us. If you tap it, its coordinates are passed to a map app on your device. The app does not use your device's own location (GPS) and does not ask for the location permission.
  • Removing location when sharing: If you turn on "Remove location when sharing" in the settings, JPEG photos are shared as copies with the location (GPS) data removed. The original photo keeps its location. Videos and photos in other formats are shared as they are. A JPEG photo whose location could not be removed is not sent.
  • Subtitles and slideshow music: Subtitle files you choose are read on your device. To display them correctly, the app makes a copy converted to UTF-8 in its cache. When you choose a subtitle folder or music for a slideshow, Android's file picker gives the app permission to read only what you chose, and the app remembers that choice. None of this is sent anywhere.
  • Similar photos: "Similar photos" compares your photos on your device, using small values calculated from each photo (an image fingerprint and a sharpness score). These values are saved in a file in the app's storage so that they do not have to be calculated again, and are never sent anywhere. The app suggests which photo to keep, but it does not select any photo for removal by default. Photos you choose to remove go to the trash.
  • App lock and hiding content in recent apps: The app lock uses your device's own screen lock (fingerprint, face, PIN, and so on) through Android's biometric prompt. Your biometric data is handled by Android and never reaches the app. "Hide content in recent apps" stops your photos from appearing on the recent apps screen. On Android 12 and earlier, Android can do this only by protecting the whole screen, so screenshots of the app are also blocked.
  • When anything leaves your device: Only when you share photos or videos, use "Open with another app", use "Set as" (for example, to set a wallpaper), or tap the location of a photo to open it in a map app. In each case, it goes only to the app or destination you choose. We never receive any of it.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information, your photos and videos, or location data.
  • Purchase information: We use purchase tokens issued by Google Play to verify your one-time "Premium" purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.
  • List of our other apps: To show our other apps in the app's settings, the app downloads their names, descriptions, and icons from our content server (static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages). The request contains no personal data from the app. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection. Tapping an app in the list opens its page on Google Play.

3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device

  • Your photos and videos: They stay in your device's photo library, as described in Section 2. The app does not make its own copies of them, except for the trash on Android 10 and earlier and the temporary copies it makes for sharing (with the location removed) and for subtitles.
  • App settings: Display, photo, and video settings, the albums you hide, and your Premium purchase status are stored on your device.
  • Records for this device: Your favorites, your subtitle folder, the music you choose for slideshows, whether the app has already asked you for a permission, and when it last asked you to rate the app.
  • Playback records: For each video, the position where you stopped, the playback speed, the A-B repeat sections, and the subtitle settings, so that you can continue where you left off.
  • Other app data: The values used to find similar photos (Section 2) and, on Android 10 and earlier, the list of items in the trash.
  • Android backup: If backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include the app's settings (display and other settings, the albums you hide, and your Premium purchase status) in the backup it saves to your own Google account, and may copy them to a new phone when you transfer your data directly. Favorites, playback records, the values for similar photos, and the trash list are always excluded. Your photos and videos are not stored in the app, so they are not part of the app's backup. This is handled by Android; we have no access to it.
  • When you uninstall: Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes the settings and records stored in the app. The photos and videos in your device's photo library are not affected. However, on Android 10 and earlier, the items in the app's trash are deleted.

3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

  • Your photos and videos, or the subtitle files and music you choose
  • The places where your photos were taken, or the location of your device
  • The names of your files and albums, your favorites, or the videos you watch
  • Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (the app has no account or sign-up)
  • Your fingerprint, face, or other biometric data
  • Your device's advertising ID
  • A history of the websites you visit or the contents of your communications
  • The contents of your screen or of other apps

3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes

Gallery Pro uses the following OS permissions only for the stated purposes:

  • Photos and videos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO on Android 13 and later, READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED on Android 14 and later, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and earlier) — The core function of the app: listing, showing, and playing the photos and videos on your device. On Android 14 and later, you can allow access to selected photos and videos only.
  • Storage (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Android 10 and earlier only) — Moves, renames, and deletes files, moves them to the trash, and saves edited photos. Not requested on Android 11 and later.
  • Location in photos (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION) — Shows where a photo was taken in its details. On Android 10 and later, requested only when you open a photo's details. This is not the location permission: the app cannot find out where your device is.
  • Media management (MANAGE_MEDIA, Android 12 and later) — Used only if you allow it yourself in the system settings, so that Android does not ask for confirmation every time you delete, move, or rename items. You can turn it off at any time in your device settings.
  • Foreground service for media playback (FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK / WAKE_LOCK) — Used only when "Background play" is on, to keep a video's sound playing when you turn off the screen or switch to another app. A playback notification is shown while it is running.
  • Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC / USE_FINGERPRINT) — Used only for the app lock, to ask for your fingerprint, face, or screen lock through Android. The app never receives your biometric data.
  • Google Play billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — Used for the one-time Premium purchase through Google Play.
  • Internet (INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — Used only for anonymous crash reports, Google Play purchase verification, in-app reviews and in-app updates, downloading the list of our other apps, and showing this privacy policy in the app. Showing photos and playing videos do not require an internet connection.

The app does not ask for permission to use your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or notifications.

4. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:

  • Operating and maintaining the Service
  • Verifying your Premium purchase
  • Diagnosing and fixing crashes
  • Responding to support inquiries
  • Complying with applicable laws

5. Third-Party Services

Gallery Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data
  • Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — the one-time Premium purchase; payment is completed on Google Play, and we receive only a purchase token
  • Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates (Google LLC) — let you rate the app and install updates without leaving it; handled by Google Play
  • Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.) — hosts the static list of our other apps

Gallery Pro does not share your data with advertising networks in order to show you ads.

6. Data Retention

  • Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
  • Support emails: retained for 12 months after the last reply, then deleted (except where legally required).
  • Items in the trash: deleted permanently after 30 days unless you restore them first. On Android 11 and later, this is done by Android.
  • Temporary copies in the app's cache: deleted automatically when you open the app after they are older than one day (copies made for sharing) or 7 days (subtitle copies).
  • Settings and records on your device: kept until you uninstall the app or clear its data. Playback records are kept for the 600 most recently played videos; older records are deleted automatically.

7. International Data Transfers

We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics and for hosting the list of our other apps may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.
